By the end of this program, you will be able to:

  • Explain core diabetes concepts and their implications for everyday self-management.

  • Use person-centred, coaching-based conversations alongside clinical care.

  • Apply behaviour-change, motivational interviewing and positive-psychology-informed techniques appropriately.

  • Recognise the emotional and psychological dimensions of living with diabetes.

  • Use case-based reasoning to support realistic goals, self-efficacy and sustainable action.

  • Work within professional scope, identify when referral is needed and collaborate effectively within a care team.

Information alone does not create sustainable change.

People living with diabetes make countless decisions every day. Clinical knowledge matters, but many people also need support to navigate motivation, confidence, emotional load, competing priorities, and the reality of daily life.

A coaching approach helps professionals move beyond advice-giving and toward collaborative, person-centred conversations that support realistic, self-directed change.

This programme brings together diabetes foundations, coaching skills and practical application so professionals can offer support that is informed, respectful and usable in real life.
